GMEDC Names New Executive Director

first_imgJoan Goldstein has been named the new Executive Director of Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC). Goldstein comes to the position after several years as a Business and Technology Advisor for the Vermont Small Business Development Center and as an adjunct accounting, economics, and small business management instructor for Community College of Vermont and the Vermont Technical College.  Joan previously conducted business for herself as an eBay selling consultant and she also brings a wide perspective from her 20 plus years in the financial services industry with international sales, marketing, client and project management experience. She has an MBA in Finance and an undergraduate degree in Economics.Her predecessor, Neal Fox, has left to pursue his many other interests, including serving on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of GMEDC.GMEDC is a nonprofit corporation committed to the development of businesses and communities of the 33 town region of the Upper Valley of Vermont. Body of Haitian migrant found on Bahamas beach

first_imgHaitians who arrived in Bahamas on a raft The police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a Haitian man, whose body was found on a beach on the island of Eleuthera on the weekend.The police report that the man was believed to be part of a group of approximately 50 Haitian migrants who landed in the South Eleuthera early Saturday.According to the police, shortly after 3 a.m (local time) on Saturday, they received a report that several Haitian migrants landed on the island.The officers, on checking the immediate area, found the lifeless body of a male on the shoreline, suspected to be a part of the group of migrants.The officers also detained the Haitian migrants and handed they over to immigration officialsThis incident follows the apprehension of 23 Haitian migrants last week who landed in the Yamacraw area on the island of New Providence.The police say they were notified about migrant sightings and subsequently apprehended the Haitians.The Royal Bahamas Defense Force says over 60 suspected Haitian migrants were apprehended in Bahaman waters last month.Haitians rally for protective status in Palm Beachlast_img read more

Ghana FA recieves Black Stars’ sponsorship cash from Ricemaster

first_imgThe Ghana FA has received Ghc 100,000  as sponsorship money from Ricemaster, the official meal sponsor of the Black Stars,  ahead of the Cairo Clash on November 19.The amount is for the 2013/14 season and is in fulfillment of their responsibility as the official meal sponsor of the Black Stars.The money comes at a time when the Black Stars is set to begin preparation ahead of the second-leg of the 2014 World Cup playoff clash against Egypt. The team is set to leave for the Turkish capital, Istanbul from 11th November, to begin preparations before leaving for Cairo.“We are really grateful to Ricemasters for their support for the Black Stars over the years. This money comes at a time that we are preparing for the Cairo Clash,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi said at a brief presentation ceremony on Tuesday.The Black Stars will arrive in Cairo on 18 November for the match to be played at the Air Defence Stadium.The match against the Pharaohs will be played on 19 November.
