The match with the Wildcats will kick at 7 p.m. and is the first of two road contests this week for Drake, which plays at South Dakota State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Freshman Alison Walls (Kansas City, Mo.), a forward, made an immediate impact in her first career game as she scored her first career goal just five minutes in of the season opener against San Francisco. In Drake’s second match against Fresno State, Walls tallied the assist on the game-winning goal by Olivia Bruce (Lakeville, Minn.). On the season, Walls leads the team in points with three and is tied for the team lead in goals scored. For her efforts, Walls earned the Missouri Valley Conference’s first Newcomer of the Week award of 2018 on Monday. South Dakota State (0-2), which hosts Wayne State Friday night, lost to Iowa State and Kansas last weekend. The Bulldogs and the Jackrabbits have played each other every season since 2007. SDSU leads the all-time series, 7-5-2, and the teams battled to a 2-2 draw in Des Moines last season. Drake and Kansas State are playing for the second time with the first meeting coming in the Wildcats’ debut season of 2016. The Bulldogs edged K-State, 1-0, at the Cownie Soccer Complex. Kansas State is 2-0 this season with home wins over Saint Louis and Oakland.
